Tailoring

Aloo Foundation’s tailoring program is a 12mo long scholarship course in tailoring, where women from the nearby Mtomondoni village learn everything from sewing to garment design to business development. After students pass their final exams, they will graduate with their own sewing machine and with the skills and support to build their own home business.

We are currently in our 6th year and group of cohorts.

Many of our alumni have gone on to find full time jobs at tailoring factories or have opened their own tailoring shop in town. We also opened Aloo Tailoring Shop to give space for alumni students to have a place to work and build their clientele.
